Glory Returns to Maryland Burrathletes
WOW! Cedric Dana shatters World Record by over 20 seconds in the Burrito Mile in a time of 6:37.49.
Ian Chow of Team Facial, a team made up entirely of non-runners, chomped down his burrito in an amazing 35 seconds. Ian struggled with the running aspect, however, and Cedric Dana easily caught him after eating his burrito in 55 seconds.
Dana was on the winning 4 x 8urrito, which obliterated the old world record set on June 3 of last year. That record was 21:46 by WJ4×8StateChamps . Today’s winning 4×8urrito BROKE THAT RECORD BY OVER 5:30 in a time of 16:12.
Cedric Dana now owns a Triple Crown, with world records in the 1-burrito mile, the elite 2-burrito mile, and the 4×8urrito.
Veronica Salcido smashed the female world record which was formerly held by Brielle Dana, Cedric Dana’s sister. Salcido’s mark of 8:22 bested the previous record by 1:24.
Maryland showed that they are pros when it comes to pulling this event off. Thanks to event organizer Rafi Moersen, this group from Maryland continues to pioneer the burritolympic games.
